Are you listening ?
Sound has always been a passion of mine. I began training my ear at age 10 through music, which taught me how sound can tell a story.
My first experience behind a microphone was at my college radio station at the University of Washington, where I hosted a show for three years exploring the connection between music and film.
As a campus tour guide at the University of Washington also prepared me writing for the ear. I developed strong public speaking skills, confidence with my voice, and curated stories to help students envision themselves at UW.
My previous experience set the stage for my journey as audio journalist. After graduating, I joined Northwest Public Broadcasting and learned how to report for radio, where I discovered my passion for storytelling through sound. I realized I could combine my interests in music and composition with journalism. Altogether, my experience has prepared me to produce one- to four-minute audio stories.
With my audio stories listeners are able to step into a whole new world connect directly with the people I talk to. If people are truly listening hopefully they will learn something new, and feel more connected to communities they may have never encountered.
